ECE service complaints

Go to Complaints about your early childhood education services (external link) on the parents website.

School or related complaints

If you have a complaint about a school or about related providers (such as Teen Parent Units, Alternative Education providers).

 

 

If you have a concern or complaint about the use of seclusion in a school

 

Speak to the Principal, then to the Board of Trustees.

If you are not happy with the response from the school, contact your local office for support.
Or you can contact the Office of the Ombudsman to make a complaint (external link) . If your complaint is about a teacher you can contact the Education Council (external link)

Contact your local Ministry office straight away.

Statutory Intervention complaints

Complaints can be about a statutory appointee working in a school.  This may be a Specialist Adviser, Limited Statutory Manager or a Commissioner. 

Raise your complaint directly with the statutory appointee first.

If you not happy with the response from the appointee you should contact your local office.

Complaints about other education organisations

Education organisations like New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Education Review Office (ERO) and Tertiary Education Commission (TEC)

Send your complaint to the relevant organisation.

Once we've received your complaint we will get in touch with you, within 2 working days, to discuss how we will handle it.

If you're still not happy with how we're handling your complaint

You can complain to the Office of the Ombudsman (external link)  if you're not happy about the way we're handling your complaint about us.
