Schools and The Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights
The Code protects all consumers, whatever their age, who use health and disability services. Services covered by the Code include doctors and nurses, as well as counsellors and providers of disability services.
Schools who provide health services, including counselling to their students need to take reasonable steps to ensure their students receive the appropriate care.
Schools who provide support to students with disabilities or learning support needs may also be seen as providing disability services under the Code.
