Māori medium schools that provide education under section 201 or 204 of the Education and Training Act 2020 are eligible for school transport funding.
Overview
Kura, Kura Kaupapa Māori and designated character wharekura that provide education under Section 201(external link) or 204(external link) of the Education and Training Act 2020(external link) are eligible to apply for school transport funding.
Rates are paid to school boards quarterly in advance and are reviewed every year.
How funding is worked out for each school
The calculation formula is:
(per-student rate) x (eligible students) x (annual gazetted school days)
÷ 4 + (eligible students) x (per-student admin rate of $3.35) + GST
